An Urgent Care Centre for mental health has been set up at Peach Tree House in the grounds of Whiteleaf Health Centre in Aylesbury. It offers a 24 hour a day alternative to A & E for people who require immediate care when their safety or the safety of others is at risk. The centre does not offer a walk-in facility but patients can be referred there by their GP, emergency services or the Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Mental Health Helpline.
Vivek Khosla, clinical director of Buckinghamshire’s mental health services, provided by Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, said: “The urgent mental health care unit offers a specialist space for people to get specific treatment and support for their mental health when they are experiencing a mental health crisis and urgently need care.
“It offers an alternative to a busy A&E and is a hub of professional mental health expertise who offers people experiencing mental health crisis the right care, in the right environment, at the right time.”
Anyone concerned about their mental health, or for the mental health of a loved one, can contact Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Mental Health Helpline 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
