Tea at Three is for the residents of Longwick and the surrounding area to meet up and make new friends while enjoying sandwiches, cakes, tea, and coffee. In short to have an enjoyable afternoon together with entertainment when possible. The afternoon is all free though a voluntary donation towards expenses is appreciated.
Tea at Three was started 18 years ago by Mr and Mrs Cunningham and is now run by Gill and Tony Stone. It is very well attended, meeting five times a year in Longwick Village Hall.
‘Thanks for the Memory’ started as an idea for a community singing event in late March and grew to be a celebration in sound and pictures of the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. Unfortunately the spread of the coronavirus put an end to it as a community event in the Village Hall. Not to be daunted Tony Stone came up with an alternative proposal to do a radio programme instead. Tony Eccleston has produced it with the help of members of the village as readers and Tony’s son, David, who is a sound engineer and of course Red Kite Radio.
They still hope to put it on as an event with accompanying pictures and video clips when circumstances allow.
