The following positions are currently vacant at Red Kite Radio

Station Manager

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the highest possible standards of broadcasting on the station.

Duties will include:

  – ensuring that presenters follow the requirements of the Ofcom Broadcasting Code at all times, with particular emphasis on appropriate language and content

  – ensuring that presenters follow the requirements of the RKR Style Guide at all times, both on and off the air

  – making revisions to the RKR Style Guide as and when required

  – attending RKR Steering Committee meetings and implementing its policies

  – recruiting and training new presenters

  – managing advertising campaign renewals

  – recruiting new advertisers and helping write commercial scripts

  – ensuring that system faults are corrected in a timely manner

–   dealing with general correspondence 

Station Engineer 

Reporting to the Station Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for all IT, electronic and electrical systems within the studio.

A thorough, practical knowledge of Windows computers, networks and audio engineering is essential.

Duties will include:

  – investigating and diagnosing faults

  – responding to system outages, including power cuts and equipment failures, in a timely manner

  – carrying out software and equipment upgrades as required

  – being mindful of the need to maintain high technical standards in our systems at minimal cost

Previous experience as a radio presenter would be desirable but is not essential.  A full briefing on all systems within the studio will be provided.

Deputy Head of Output

Reporting to the Head of Output, the successful candidate will need to become thoroughly familiar with the suite of Station Playlist software applications in use at the station.  Full training will be given.

Duties will include:

  – deputising for the Head of Output in the weekly process of scheduling the following week’s output

  – helping new presenters to install the Remote VT software and helping presenters when problems arise

A practical knowledge of audio editing software such as Audacity, Cool Edit or Adobe Audition would be highly desirable but is not essential.
