Buckinghamshire Council is launching its “Stop Means Stop” campaign to remind drivers they must stop for school crossing patrollers, otherwise they could face a fine of up to £1,000, 3 penalty points on their licence or even disqualification. The Council has 60 school crossing patrollers and they face a rising number of cases of abuse and threatening behaviour from a minority of drivers. Steven Broadbent, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport, said the full weight of the law would be brought to bear on those drivers who chose to ignore their legal responsibilities.
