Broadcasting legend Sir David Attenborough steps in to help Whipsnade and London Zoo.
The naturalist and wildlife broadcaster fronts an appeal to save Whipsnade Zoo in Bedfordshire.
Sir David’s appeal aims to raise £12 million to help Whipsnade and its sister site in London.
There are 18,000 animals with monthly food bills of £43,500 across both sites. Speaking about the wellbeing of animals at zoos, Sir David Attenborough comments: ‘What happens if you can’t raise the money to feed the animals? Are you meant to put them down?’.
During the pandemic, zoos were forced to close for 12 weeks, and while they are now open again they’ve warned of the dangers of not being able to raise enough money to keep going.
