Don’t let the scammers take your money

We are seeing more and more attempts of criminals trying to part you from your money.

Particularly prevalent at the moment are those from the HMRC which either threaten to take you to court if you don’t respond or offer you a cash payment because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Neither of them is true – but there are a lot more and you can always check the latest information from HMRC by going to their website

Which!, the consumer magazine are also constantly giving out new information about common email and mobile phone scams and they have a page you can access on their website

You can also subscribe to their scam alert service  which gives you a weekly update on the most common scams taking place

A third place to check if you are unsure is snopes.com. This website, whilst international, is also a good place to check if something is dodgy or just plain wrong.

The key thing to remember is  If it looks too good to be true – it probably is
