The legendary crooner was the first Welshman to have a solo UK Number One hit with his 1960 song Tell Laura I Love Her.
According to BBC, Valence’s agent said he had been diagnosed with dementia, and had been admitted to hospital before the lockdown began.
Valance’s music career began in his childhood, as he performed with his local church as a soprano.
Later, he completed military service by joining the air force and serving in North Africa for three years.
Upon his return, he started to establish a name for himself in the music industry, touring various clubs in the north of England.
His hit song Tell Laura I Love Her was met with controversy when it was first released and was banned by certain radio stations.
It tells the heartbreaking story of a young man named Tommy, and his ill-fated love for a girl called Laura.
