Running annually, the Community Cop Card scheme is a sticker collecting scheme for year 6 pupils in the schools covered by the Marlow and Marlow South West Rural Neighbourhood Policing Teams.
The scheme is in its third year and after huge success in 2019, they are looking forward to Community Card scheme 2020, which is to be trialled in High Wycombe
About the scheme
A partnership between Thames Valley Police and Buckinghamshire Council, the scheme focuses on group effort, as classes compete against each other to win a trip to Legoland Windsor.
Children can collect up to 24 stickers by completing activities encouraging them to be safe, engage with their local community, care for their local areas and build positive relationships with their Neighbourhood Policing Teams.
In 2019, the participating schools had educational workshops delivered by Thames Valley Police, NSPCC, Buckinghamshire Council, Bucks and Milton Keynes Fire & Rescue, MoneySense, Dementia Friends and St John’s Ambulance.
The year 6 pupils from Radnage C of E School were the winners of Community Cop Cards 2019. They thoroughly enjoyed their prize which was a visit to LEGOLAND Windsor. The work they produced was outstanding – they even designed new stickers for the scheme!
The scheme will be rolled out in Wycombe Local Police Area in early in 2021 but Cllr Bill Bendyshe-Brown, as deputy chairman of the TVP Police & Crime Panel, will be trying to encourage the Police & Crime Commissioner to roll this initiative out Thames Valley Police wide.
