Superintendent Lis Knight has been appointed as the new Commander for the South and Vale Local Policing Area (LPA).
Lis Knight has taken over as Commander for South and Vale LPA from Superintendent Rory Freeman, who has been appointed as Head of Operations for Hampshire Constabulary and Thames Valley Police Joint Operations Unit. She joined Thames Valley Police in 2003, after starting her career as a police officer in the West Midlands.
Having worked within the fields of Domestic Abuse, Intelligence, and Neighbourhood policing, Supt Knight then became a Detective Chief Inspector for the Force’s Criminal Investigation Department within Oxfordshire.
Most recently, Supt Knight was the Business lead for a force wide project. This has seen the delivery of localised investigation teams in each LPA.
Supt Knight is a firm believer in Evidence Based Practice, combining academic rigour and analysis with the experience and practicalities of policing.
Supt Knight took a Master’s degree in Police Management and Leadership. She is also the Chair of Thames Valley Women’s Network.
In addition to this, Supt Knight leads on TVPTalks, an innovative project promoting organisational learning amongst practitioners.
On her new appointment, Supt Knight said: ‘I am thoroughly delighted to become the LPA Commander for the South and Vale and am genuinely looking forward to meeting the partners and community to make it a safer place for us all.’
