A man claiming to have coronavirus and coughing in the faces of police officers after being caught shoplifting in a Sainsbury’s store in Cowley on Monday has been jailed for 20 weeks at Oxford Magistrates Court.
24 year old Johnny Sansom, of Victoria Road, Haringey, London, admitted one count of theft and a racially aggravated public order offence.
He also pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour.
Supt Joe Kidman, of Thames Valley Police, said: “I am very pleased that we’ve seen swift and robust justice in this case.”
