The Rycote Practice is vaccinating several hundred more patients next week as part of the drive to vaccinate all over 70s by mid-February. We are fully committed to rolling out the vaccination programme as fast as we can and the only thing holding us back is the supply of vaccine. We have asked for additional supplies from NHS England to ensure that by the end of next week all patients over the age of 70 have been offered their first dose.
We are aware that there has been some confusion as NHS England have been writing to some patients and inviting them to appointments at a new vaccination centre that has been set up at the Kassam Stadium in Oxford. Unfortunately we are not aware when these invitations have been sent so occasionally patients may also receive a call from us. Please be assured, it does not matter where you receive your vaccination and we would encourage patients to take the first appointment that they are offered.
Evidence from early studies show that the vaccine is effective and excitingly may even help to limit the transmission of Covid-19. In order to achieve the most benefit from the vaccination programme it is vitally important that we continue to wear a mask, practice good hand hygiene and observe social distancing at this early stage, even after we have been vaccinated. Stay safe. Protect the NHS. Save Lives
