The Kop Hill Climb Organising Committee has announced that it is to make initial interim donations to six charities from the £14,639 raised to date by its “every pound is precious” appeal. The charities concerned are Scannappeal, Rennie Grove, Lindengate, Guild of Parents Princes Risborough School, Bucks Search and Rescue (BSAR) and Thames Valley Air Ambulance (TVAA), providing much needed support for organisations helping mental and physical wellbeing, education and voluntary emergency services.
The appeal will continue whilst we are still subject to the restrictions placed upon us all by the current circumstances. If you have not already made a donation, you can do so by going to the KHC website (www.kophillclimb.org.uk) or our Facebook page.
The Committee would like to place on record the particular generosity of this year’s entrants, the vast majority of whom donated their entry fees to the appeal. Many of our event partners also generously waived their charges. We are indebted to them all.
Another way in which you can help to raise further funds is by buying a copy of the KHC commemorative magazine, published last year to mark the tenth anniversary of the event’s revival. With 68 full colour pages and nearly 100 images, it reviews the story of the climb since its origin in 1910 and makes a thoughtful Christmas present. It is priced at £5.00 plus post and packing. Simply go to our website as above, select “shop” at the right of the top tool bar and follow the instructions. All monies from its sale go directly to the appeal.
The Committee is already in the planning process for the 2021 event, which will mark the 110th anniversary of that first-ever climb in 1910. It remains to be seen how much our lives will continue to be affected by the pandemic over the next months. However, the Committee is hopeful that the overall situation will have eased somewhat and that we are able to, once again, provide that weekend of entertainment which was so sorely missed this year by so many.
