Another local attraction has had to admit defeat in battling against Covid-19.
Chearsley Cricket Club today issued a statement advising us of the cancellation of this year’s ‘Classic & Vintage Fun Day’.
In the statement it said,
The committee looked at a variety of ways to alter the format of this year’s show to comply with all the relevant guidelines on ‘social distancing’ but concluded that it would not be right to go ahead with an event which involved a public gathering of significant numbers of people, given the current uncertainties remaining regarding the spread of the COVID 19 pandemic.
“We were deeply saddened to have made this decision but we felt it was the right course of action in the current circumstances,” said committee member Andy Yorke
“This would have been our 9th show and our event has gone from strength to strength over the years. We have identified Sunday 12th September 2021 as the date for next year’s show and we are already working on ambitious plans to mark our 10th anniversary in great style” said Andy.
The show has provided vital resources for the development of junior cricket at Chearsley Cricket Club in recent years and club members and show supporters are invited to make a contribution this year by making a donation at the club’s Just Giving page on this link
