Excavations at an HS2 construction site have unearthed the remains of an Anglo-Saxon church. The discovery was made during work by archaeologists on the site of St Mary’s Church in Stoke Mandeville. The Norman church dates from 1080 and the Anglo-Saxon remains, which include flint walls, have been hailed as a fantastic discovery.
