The company which runs street cleaning and bin collections in Buckinghamshire is offering a £1,500 signing-on bonus to drivers with class 2 and seven-and-a-half tonne qualifications to keep vital recycling and waste collections going. Peter Strachan, Buckinghamshire Council Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Environment, welcomed the company’s proactive recruitment process and said it offered a great employment opportunity for the county’s residents to work in a key local service. The Road Haulage Association estimates the shortage of HGV drivers across the UK to be over 100,000.
