Thame Carnival 2024

Red Kite Radio supports Thame Carnival 2024

The annual Thame Carnival returns on Saturday 15th June 2024 for another day of fantastic family fun, magical music, good food and fabulous floats.

Red Kite Radio will be there all day long on the main music stage, presenting the musicians who will be performing live and recording interviews for later broadcast on the station.

Presenters Alan Taberer from the Breakfast Show, Karl Braisher from the Weekend Warm Up and John Reid-Hansen from Sunday Brunch would love to chat to you, so do say hello.

John is a multi-talented musician in his own right and in addition to representing Red Kite Radio at the carnival, he will also be performing live on stage at 4pm. And the other two live music acts are current and former students of his.

Seventeen-year-old Thame guitarist and songwriter Bradley Baker will perform at 1.30pm followed by Chinnor singer songwriter Kiera Gabrielle at 2.15pm.  Kiera has just released her new CD, Scorpio, featuring her single These Three Words. She will perform with a full band, including her brother Nathan on drums.

The traditional carnival parade will set off from Elms Park at 12 o’clock and make its way along the High Street and Cornmarket to the Southern Road Recreation Ground where the fete will be officially opened at 1pm by Thame Mayor Andy Gilbert.

On the show site, in addition to live music, there will be food and refreshments, games and stalls including Pimms, coffee, ice cream, a bouncy castle, go karts, tombola and fairground rides.  DJ Dan Blaze will be the MC for the day. Air and Army Cadets will run the egg throw water balloons.

At just after 1.15pm there will be a flypast by a Lancaster. And at 3pm Thame Fire Service will be giving a demonstration of cutting up a car to remove a trapped driver.

Thame Carnival raises funds for a wide range of local charities and good causes, the main beneficiaries this year are –  Thame Memory Café, Thame Food Bank and Mill Lane County Primary School Association.
